Visual Art Lessons

PTArtscape’s Visual Arts lessons have been created over a period of twenty years by Port Townsend’s teaching artists. Many were developed in collaboration with classroom teachers and/or community members. The age range that each lesson was designed for and effectively taught at is indicated.

Lessons are aligned with Common Core Learning Standards, and provide a broad range of avenues for building visual arts skills and understanding essential Visual Arts concepts. Many lessons feature a special focus on creative choices, communication, critical thinking, and collaboration. Maritime Discovery lessons link students to place and history and reflect alignment with current Port Townsend School District initiatives.
